This is our Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy specifies and describes the rules and regulations for acceptable use and behavior while connected to the Undernet IRC network's channel #chatzone, herein referred to as "the channel" or "#chatzone".
Introduction
#Chatzone is an Internet Relay Chat channel located on the Undernet IRC network whose purpose is to allow users of all nationalities and backgrounds to freely converse with one another on any clean, friendly and/or humorous topics.
Guidelines for Acceptable Use
The following is a list of actions that are defined as being contrary to acceptable usage. This list is non-exclusive. Any action about which there is any doubt should be referred to a channel administrator for evaluation. Actions which constitute unacceptable usage include, but are not limited to:
- Use of Profanity.
- Sending the same line of text to the channel multiple times.
- Overt and/or continuous requests for public or private chat (i.e. "wanna chat" or "msg/dcc me" or "ctc" etc...).
- Sending CTCPs, DCCs, Sounds or Notices to the channel.
- Excessive use of colors.
- Publicly soliciting users to engage in online sex.
- Sexually explicit comments.
- Unsolicited advertisements of products/web sites/services/other irc channels.
- Derogatory comments about ethnic groups or religions.
- Abusive language or actions toward or about other users or channel operators.
- Propagation and/or attempted exploitation of computer worms/viruses/trojans/backdoors of scripts.
- Partaking in any form of electronic intrusion, "port scanning", or Denial of Service attacks on other users of the channel.
- Running any form of automated entity (bot) on the channel without the expressed consent of a channel administrator.
By joining #chatzone you agree to act in accordance with this Acceptable Use Policy.
Disclaimer
By maintaining a connection to #chatzone you state that you know and are willing to comply with and accept these as well as any future terms of service and user guidelines. You understand that #chatzone channel operators and administrators can not be held responsible for the content or accuracy of the information being discussed and/or distributed on the channel. You also understand that the channel is intended for use by users over the age of 13 and that the channel operators and administration can not be held responsible for the content of any information viewed by any persons under the age of 13.
Channel operators of #chatzone may deny access to the channel through the use of kicks and channel bans. They are empowered to use their discretion when enforcing these guidelines. They are under no obligation to warn any user prior to enforcing these guidelines.
The channel administration reserves the right to deny any user, ISP, country or institution that is found to be in violation of this Acceptable Use Policy access to and use of the channel and any of its resources including but not limited to the channel itself, any mailing lists, ftp sites, telnet services and any automated entities (bots) that are run by the administration.
Parents: Conversation on #chatzone may contain material that many parents would find unsuitable for children under 13 years of age. Conversation on #chatzone may include moderate violence, some sexual situations, infrequent coarse language, or some suggestive dialogue.
Reporting Abuse
To report a violation of #chatzone's Acceptable Use Policy, or if you feel you have been denied access to the channel unjustly, please send details of the violation along with any appropriate logs to chatzone_abuse@yahoogroups.com
Consequences for Violations of the AUP
The channel administrators will review all alleged violations of the Acceptable Use Policy on a case-by-case basis. The channel administration may attempt to contact any users involved in violations of the Acceptable Use Policy for the purposes of clarification and/or conflict mediation.
Violations of the Acceptable Use Policy may result in disciplinary action including but not limited to:
Temporary bans placed on a user, ISP, country or institution involved in the violation.
Temporary suspension of operator status.
Repeated violations of the Acceptable Use Policy may result in disciplinary action including but not limited to:
- Permanent bans placed on a user, ISP, country or institution involved in the violation.
- Permanent removal of operator status.
- #Chatzone administration reserve the right to deny access to the channel at any time without prior notice to any users or channel operators who are found to be in direct violation of the Acceptable Use Policy. The channel administration will attempt to contact specific users when possible. #Chatzone is under no circumstances to be used for illegal activities. Observed and verifiable instances may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Appealing a Violation
Users who feel they have been kicked or banned unjustly may email details of the action along with any appropriate logs to chatzone-admins@yahoogroups.com . All such allegations will be reviewed by the channel administration on a case-by-case basis. Users who have been permanently banned and would like the ban to be lifted can email chatzone-admins@yahoogroups.com to discuss how future incidents can be avoided.
Modification
The #chatzone administration reserves the right to modify the Acceptable Use Policy at any time. Changes to this AUP will be announced via email on the channel's general discussion list chatzone_undernet@yahoogroups.com.
